Reading and Ranting: Facts About Me

readingranting

So I saw this idea over at Read.Sleep.Repeat that she borrowed from Danielle from Consuming Worlds and I thought it would be a lot of fun. I don’t really share a ton about myself on the blog, other than recent events and book related things so I figured I’d pull out some interesting stuff about me and dust them off.

  1. I’m 23 and I don’t drive. In fact I’ve had my learner’s permit for 6 years and I’ve been in the driver’s seat of a car about 8 times AND I have my own car. I have this weird habit of flipping out any time someone expects me to drive.
  2. My boyfriend and I have the same birthday, July 19th, but he’s two years older. It makes it very easy to remember and plan for. You can’t forget me unless you forget about yourself! 😛
  3. I still love everything I loved as a kid…except maybe Barney. I still adore stuff like Pokemon, Legos, Spongebob, and coloring books.
  4. I collect Wishbone books. For those that don’t know, Wishbone is a tv show from the 90’s about a book loving dog who would re-tell classic novels to include himself in the action. He’s part of the reason I adore reading so much now and I love revisiting that feeling by finding and reading the old books.
  5. I am allergic to my favorite foods, which I eat anyway. Honestly, who can stay away from things like chocolate, ice cream and strawberries? Because apparently I can’t, even when it’s a health risk.
  6. I have four swords in my bedroom. Three are part of a samurai sword set and the other is a super long katana that is nearly as tall as I am. (I’m 5’2″ btw)
  7. When I’m stressed out I have a tendency to collect things as a way to cope. In recent years I’ve been able to avoid appearing TLC’s Hoarders by downloading free kindle books or playing video games where you get achievements for doing really time consuming stuff.
  8. I can quote my favorite movies verbatim and it drives people crazy. (ex: The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Hobbit, The Labyrinth, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.)
  9. Some of my biggest pet peeves has to do with talking to people. I hate when people tell me what I said, because like movies I can recall conversations almost perfectly when needed. I also hate when people answer a question I didn’t ask, because it still leaves my original one unanswered and they’re probably giving me information I really didn’t need.
  10. I can’t read Shakespeare normally. I HAVE to read it out loud and in full character, because it’s the only way to do it in my opinion.
  11. I have a desk and almost never use it. Correction: I use it to stack stuff on…
  12. By 12th grade I had my whole future mapped out to a T…I had a powerpoint and everything! Yet here I sit, unemployed and without a degree. O_o (*shakes fist at universe* I had a powerpoint dammit.)
  13. I seriously thought I had a brain tumor for the longest time until this year where my new doctor on the first day of meeting me said “It’s highly unlikely you’ve had a brain tumor since middle school.” For some reason that’s all it took to clear that up…(For those thinking it’s a little strange to think that, I have anxiety…it gives you strange thoughts.)
  14. I had a ton of friends in high school and now I actively hide from them. If you’re one of my old friends from school…I’m hiding from you. You shouldn’t take it personally though, because I’m hiding from all the others too.
  15. If had I had to give up all of my fandoms except for two I would keep Harry Potter and HIM (a finnish band). I already have a HIM tattoo and Harry Potter is next, because they are a huge part of my life.
  16. Whenever someone tells me to watch something I immediately avoid whatever it is they are talking about. I swear I don’t do it on purpose!
  17. I’ve been bitten by a centipede four times in my sleep and when they say they’re not poisonous don’t believe them. I had a numb thumb for nearly a week, I spent two days nauseous, and I’m pretty sure the blasted thing damaged a nerve in my back because it still gets this weird tingly pain.
  18. I cuss like a sailor when I’m not on the internet or in front of my family. I could probably put a sailor to shame to be honest…It’s a bad habit but as Spongebob once said, they’re sentence enhancers. (Name of the episode is Sailor Mouth…watch it…)
  19. I love anime and manga.
  20. I love listening to music in different languages especially Japanese and Finnish. I can’t understand any of it but it’s awesome nonetheless.

Now you know more about me! (And probably more than you care to know, lol) Here’s a video of the intro to Wishbone…because why not?

  1. My kids adored Wishbone, and so did I. 🙂 How cool that you share the same birthday. While I drive I prefer not too..LOL Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. Ha! I have a desk and it is a catch all for everything to go instead of actually putting it away. It has doors, so no one sees all the stuff on it. lol…It took me almost 2 months to drive again when we moved to Tennessee, it has so many hills and the ups and downs made me car sick. We live between to mountain tops now, so there is no avoiding it now. Have a great weekend. 🙂

    • I wish I had doors on mine, it’s so messy. It took me five minutes to find my kindle charger and it was sitting on top of everything. Ugh that sounds horrible, the driving I mean. I love being in the mountains, but I don’t think I’d ever attempt driving if I lived there.

WISHBONE!!! I totally forgot about that show! I was partial to The Reading Rainbow myself. 😉 I too curse like a sailor and that Spongebob episode is one of my all time faves, and now I really want to watch it! I’m so happy this feature is picking up speed! I love getting to know all my “virtual” friends better…did that sound creepy? O_o

  4. I wish I could get away without driving but I nearly always end up being the driver when I’m going anywhere. Wishbone is so cute! And I’m not a fan of desks either, I’d rather curl up with a laptop balancing on my lap 🙂

  5. Christy says:

LOL – I avoid friends from high school, too. I just … ugh … don’t want to see them. haha. Omg, Wishbone! This was a fun post, Michelle.

  6. It’s so cool that you have the same birthday! And it’s so sad that you’re allergic to a lot of good food. I’d probably eat them too even if I’m allergic. Haha!
Is it weird that you remind me a little of Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory? Haha! Collecting all kinds of things, making powerpoints, remembering movie lines, imaginary illnesses. XD

  7. lab1990 says:

I love Wishbone! He’s such a cutie. I’m 23 and I don’t drive either. Granted, you’re a bit further than me. I’ve never driven a car and I don’t have a temps or anything. I have anxiety too, and really bad anxiety about cars/driving.

love learning new things about bloggers!!
