Sunday Post (98)

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. ~ Inspired by the meme In My Mailbox.~

It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Some weeks I have a ton of trouble remembering what I did and end up having nothing to recap with. I am still learning how to use a skateboard without dying and so far I’ve been pretty successful. I’ve only managed to tweak my ankle and my wrist, and they healed up within a few days. My book haul is pretty large this week thanks to gift cards and my mom buying me a stack from Goodwill.  I do apologize for being sort of non-existent on the commenting front. I’ve been trying to get use to working and when I’m not doing that I’m not home, so my actual internet time has taken somewhat of a hit.

Question: I’m thinking about doing a flash giveaway on either my Facebook page (Veritas Page) or on my Twitter (@NLibrisVeritas), so I need to know what kind of prizes you enjoy the most. Swag, ebooks, gift cards , or physical copies (will be from personal stash)? Also before I do anything of the kind of Facebook I want to have a bit more activity there. I know FB has screwed with the viewing for posts, so people don’t see the updates , but I really want to be able to do cool things like flash giveaways and author take overs and I can only do that if the viewership is there.

Another Question: What are some cool (non-complex) things you like to do on street teams? I’m helping out with a street team for Cheryl Douglas and I’m trying to come up with some more ways to get activity going both in the group and outside of it.

  1. Great haul! I have become addicted to The Game of Thrones during the last week and I think I need to read the books too. It is excellent, I can’t stop thinking about it.
I feel the same about FB, I’d love to do a flash giveaway there but I don’t have enough likes on my page or views to justify holding one. I always like to win ebooks 🙂

    • The books are just as good, if not better! Exactly, everyone loves free books but I don’t want to hold a giveaway for two active people, lol.

      • I’ve listened to Books 1-3 of Martin’s books. They are really well done. They changed narrators for book 4, and I just can’t get into it. Although I think when we are done watching Season 3 via Netflix, I’ll probably go back. I have to get it finished before next spring and the release of the next round of DVDs!!

I’ve been meaning to watch the Game of Thrones (everyone else seems to have watched it?!) but haven’t had the time, the books look HUGE. OMG. Enjoy reading!!

  4. I really want to read the Game of Thrones series. I just started watching the show and I am rather enjoying it! Great haul, great week! Did you enjoy Independent Study? I liked it much more than The Testing. Enjoy! MY STS

    • The books are better, if you can believe it! The show is pretty spot on but it does leave some of the finer details out. I enjoyed Independent Study more than The Testing too! It really diverged from that dystopian “hunger games” like bubble people put it in.

  5. My (18 year old) son decided to take up skateboarding. You can imagine how he was rolling with his eyes when I told him to get the proper gear for protection etc. Great Freebie haul 🙂
Have a great week and Happy Reading.
    My Sunday Post is here

Skateboarding without dying- LOL. Great haul- GoT boxed set and some comics too. Plus Sanderson which is supposed to be really good. Looks like some fun freebies too. Happy reading!

  7. Awesome haul! Your mom rocks snagging you those books. Good luck adjusting to work and all, we will be here so no worries. I think swag is good since that can be international for those flash giveaways. I belong to a few street teams and we have a private members only page on facebook were we chat, share pics and wreak havoc. LOL

  8. Rising sounds good, hope you enjoy.

Wow, you got some great books this week!! I hope work gets easier to juggle. It’s definitely different blogging when you have a lot going on, but it can be nice too! 🙂

Great haul! I am reading Words of Radiance and I’m loving it. 🙂

  11. Christy says:

That is a great haul, Michelle! Facebook sucks. They’ve dropped the number views down to the tens unless you pay them. Pfft. Even then it’s not that great. Maybe you should just give me the prizes instead. Kidding! 😉 I’m not part of any street teams, so I don’t know. Next week I think you should include a video of you trying to skateboard. 😀

  12. rediza says:

Great haul of freebies – and great GOT ! (I’ll read the books after I have watched the whole series) have a nice week 🙂

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed it, leave a comment and tell me what you think.
