Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I want to Re-Read

I am not a big re-read person…I actually hate re-reading except in very special cases so this list is shorter than ten.

1. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, more specifically Deathly Hallows

I re-read these nearly every year, so of course I want to do it again! I’ve actually already started re-reading the first book, but I need to re-read the last book because I’ve only read it once. So many tears.

2. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien

I’ve actually never read Return of the King (shhh), but I have read Fellowship and Two Towers. So needless to say I need to re-read them before I read Return for the first time. I’m actually one of those people who knows all of the canon without ever finishing the books…it’s weird.

3. Redwall series by Brian Jacques

I’ve almost the whole series and need to finish it, but one day I would love to re-read the whole series again. I’ve read a few of the books twice already like Pearls of Lutra, Marlfox, and Legend of Luke. Wot-wot!

4. The Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe

I have a big volume of everything Poe ever published but it’s been years since I finished reading all of it, so I’d love to revisit it in the future.

5. Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare

Okay this one was a snooze-fest when I first read it. It took me a year to get this one and I don’t even think it’s 200 pages. I would love to see if my opinion has changed at all since it’s one of the few plays that I’ve disliked.

6. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Holy crap Catherine and Heathcliff are a mess, but I’d love to hang out with them again. This is first ‘romance’ I ever read and it was like watching a train wreck, but infinity more enjoyable. Plus I really loved the dreary gothic feel.

7. The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice

I actually started re-read Interview with the Vampire a few months ago but never got around to finishing it…in fact neither did my best friend or boyfriend, we all just sort of dropped off at the same time for different reasons.

Great list! I’m typically not a re-reader. There are always so many new things to read. In the last year I don’t think I’ve re-read anything, but on my list would be the Harry Potter series too. I think I’ll end up re-reading The Hunger Games books by the time the last movie rolls around as well.

  2. Nice choices, I love to re-read books but struggle to find the time to fit them in…. must do better!

Re-reading the classics is a good way to go! I really liked the Vampire Chronicles back in the day, and haven’t even read Wuthering Heights yet. Happy re-reading 🙂

  4. Great list. I have Poe down for a first read!

I don’t reread a lot anymore, but it’s been years since I read LoTR and I was thinking recently it might be time. And Redwall is a series I think I would like, but haven’t tried yet. Maybe in 2015…

    • Definitely agree with you on both of those things. LoTR is definitely one of those novels that need a refresher read every now and then. I do think you would enjoy Redwall, it has that awesome epic fantasy feel but it’s much more approachable than a series like Wheel of Time. Plus who doesn’t like animals using tiny swords?

Yay LOTR! Yay harry potter! Yay vampire chronicles! All the rereads I need to as well 🙂 !
