Last Read

hag-seed

Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood – Goodreads

I enjoyed this one quite a bit, my review is here. I love retellings and I love Shakespeare so I’d say this was a good introduction to Atwood’s writing style, and gives me a good idea towards what her writing style is and how she explores characters. Someone has pointed me in the direction of the Blind Assassin book so I’m adding that one to my library list.

a-gathering-of-shadows

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab – Goodreads

I somehow always forget that this isn’t a YA series but an actual epic fantasy, so it took me a little bit to get back into it and switch gears but once I did I was fangirling pretty much until the end. Lila, Rhy, and Kell, and now Alucard are just perfect…I need so much more of them. Also hell yes for bisexual characters! I’m really looking forward to the next book because I need more of this magic in my life.

the-unbound

The Unbound by Victoria Schwab – Goodreads

I’m trying to clear out some of my series that I’m behind on, so when I requested A Gathering of Shadows and Ruin & Rising I also requested The Unbound. I think there have been too many years passed since I read The Archived because this one sort of fell flat for me. The writing is still gorgeous I just didn’t enjoy the characters as much.

Current Read

Gemina.jpg

Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff  – Goodreads

I wasn’t going to start this since I have a few others I need to finish, but after the less than stellar The Unbound I need a pick me up to keep me from going into a book slump. So far I’m enjoying it but I’m only about 30 pages in, so it’s hard to say BUT Marie Lu provided the illustrations and they are perfect.

Oh how I loved Hag-Seed, as well as the others in the Hogarth Shakespeare series so far. Have you read any of the others?

  2. I had no idea Hagseed was part of the Hogarth thing. I still don’t think I would have requested it though because I really didn’t like The Heart Goes Last all that much. I still have to read A Gathering Of Shadows. I adored ADSOM. Did you read Vicious or This Savage Song? I didn’t care foir either one of them. I think she is the only author I have read where I loved and adored their writing in one instance, and absolutely hated it in another. Thanks for TMTing! I will get you shared.
