Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. ~ Inspired by the meme In My Mailbox.~ It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

So I finally figured out what’s going on with me…turns out the migraines, the “kidney infection”, the flu, insomnia and the plethora of other odd crap happening to me are actually all part of the same problem. I haven’t had my depression medication in over a month because I ran out and haven’t been able to get into the doctor, so I’m actually going through withdrawals. o_o I’m sort of happy because at least my body isn’t breaking down into a million pieces, but holy crap…the withdrawal list is HUGE and I have a little over a third of the symptoms. BUT I’m not contagious and now that I know it’s basically just a lie I’m forcing myself to move about and pretend it doesn’t exist. I am feeling better overall, but it’s still there. Some days are pretty bad, but others I feel almost normal. I’ll make it through!

We had a small get together yesterday, about half the size of what it is normally. Everyone was enamored with Mia (my 4 month old niece)

RP Night Recap! We finally make it back to the ships after a little bit of travel and reunite with our other friends. I quickly make my way to my room to ‘sleep’ and immediately put on my dragon mask to see how to unlock some power and end up getting pulled into a vision. A dark room with a single pedestal with a chalice overflowing with a dark thick liquid, and in the shadows a huge dragon. After some small inquiries and the promise of power I drink from the cup, and wake up. (I’m going to be a Reaver, which is sort of like a magical based berserk class) With that done I go meet up with our leader with Thorin, we recap everything and he asks if we are ready to become Grey Wardens. We all say yes, and are escorted a room with a pedestal and chalice…cue freak out. Our mage friend goes first, almost dies and then one guy decides this isn’t for him…so our leader kills him, because no one can leave once they agree. Cue more freaking out. Everyone eventually goes. Thorin almost dies…I almost die. (If you have triples in your dice roll it’s instant death, we both got doubles and a random number) But in the end we become Grey Wardens and the heavy drinking begins. My character is so emotional broken at this point I’m not even sure what is going to happen. Her family betrays her, she gets awesome powers at the expense of drinking dragon blood…and then not five hours later has to drink blight tainted blood to become a Warden. Like she’s so far in over her head it’s ridiculous.

It’s kinda crazy what drugs do to us when we STOP taking them. I mean yeah some of the side effects or withdrawal symptoms can be crazy! Glad it’s not a more serious underlying thing tho…

Charlie Jane Anders is a DNF huh? Interesting. I’ve heard the hype but wasn’t sure if it was for me… I’ll wait I guess.

Congrats on being a Grey Warden? I think that’s a good thing?? lol dragons blood, visions, sounds fun. what level are you guys?

    Merry Christmas!!!

    • I’m glad too! But it’s certainly messed up.
Anders’ novel was along the same lines as The Magicians by Lev Grossman, which I also hated (but finished), and I couldn’t put myself through that again.

Yeah, being a Grey Warden is basically like being a non-aligned warrior for the releam and also an evil detector wrapped in one. It just comes with a whole lot of negatives (slow go crazy, almost die, hearing voices, etc.) We just hit level 6! So that’s why all the specialization story line for this week.

  2. Lucky you getting the Holding Up the Universe review book! It has been getting mostly fab reviews. Thanks again for the heads up about the Trevor Noah audiobook, that was a sweet freebie. Be careful going without your meds oin your own, it can do more wacked out things than are listed on the withdrawl symptoms lists. Your RP character might have a lot of problems, but it sure makes playing interesting. Ha ha. I hope you enjoyed your get together. Have a wonderful holiday week. Here’s to closing the curtain on the shit show that was 2016.

    • I’m quite excited about my haul this week! Even though I don’t want to read anything, they all seem like pretty stellar books.
I’m definitely learning that…I’ve been going through the most random crap and it definitely doesn’t help the whole depression thing and it’s basically made my anxiety pills useless. I’m counting the days until I get to the DR.

The RP is definitely interesting. I can’t wait till we get started on our second game, we have evil characters lined up that I think might make for interesting stories.

And HERE HERE! 2016 can kiss my a**
