Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Another slightly boring week come and gone! I’m still not in the mood to read, which at this point I suppose is the new normal for me, so I’ve been keeping busy with Mass Effect: Andromeda and lots of manga/graphic novels! My almost eight-month-old niece (Mia) is moving along at her own blazing pace. Her grandmother stood her up and let her hold onto her bed railing one day, and she picked up on how to do it on her own in a span of a week. Now a few days after that she’s crawling. She’s as curious and attentive as ever, and a big fan of music (though her tastes are questionable…what the fresh hell is the Hot-Dog Song and why is it so horrible?)

We also started a Dungeons & Dragons group this past week, so our Dragon Age game is on hold for now it seems. I’m pretty excited to finally try out D&D, but it’s intimidating for sure. I’m used to simple RPs using the Fantasy Age system, so now I’m having to figure out how to work around all these dice and of course, I accidentally picked one of the harder classes to figure out (Warlock). We have a group of four players this time around, and so far all I can say is…we’re one weird group of heroes. We’re more of a setup for a bad joke than anything else. (A gnome, raven, angel, and cat walk into a bar…)

  1. I had to look up the Hot-Dog Song. Wow … thanks for getting that stuck in my head now. lol. Have fun with your games. It’s better to do something you enjoy rather than force yourself to read.

  2. Greg Hill says:

The Hot-Dog Song- I don’t think I want to know! Some of the kids’ music is horrible ha ha.

Hope the new game goes well. I haven’t played 5th so no idea. I generally like rules- lite games myself, I don’t need rules for EVERYTHING lol. Hope you like

I’ll have to go check out your Six of crows since I have Crooked Kingdom sitting on my desk ready to go (giveaway win). Now I just need to get Six of Crows. 🙂

    • You don’t want to know…I made the mistake of looking it up and it was just in my head for days.

D&D definitely has rules for everything…I have a cheat sheet for when I play and everything I might need tabbed. I probably put more work into studying this than I ever did in high school…and that’s really saying something.

  3. LOL, Mia sounds adorable and I cannot say I know the hot dog song..now ask me to quote Trolls, and Curious George or what happened on Sesame Street and I am a savant. We use to play Dungeon and Dragons have fun!

    • She is! I keep forgetting to snag a picture and show you guys. Don’t look up the song, whatever you do..stay away. I can’t wait until she can watch movies and tv shows that are more than just bright colors and weird songs.

      I didn’t know you played D&D! That’s really awesome!

  4. I’m so excited to discover your blog again. I’m not sure what happened, but your posts stopped arriving in my inbox. 🙂

Kids are amazing. My sister texted me yesterday and let me know her kids were already talking about birthday cakes for their June parties. My niece wants a horse and my nephew would like a Captain America cake. Apparently a certain aunt and uncle have heavily influence these choices. 🙂

  5. Hope you have fun with D&D. One of these days I’m going to try my hand at it. Seems like so much fun!

  6. Kids’ music is so bad. Wear earplugs and have fun playing D&D!

  7. How was the Sojourner Truth. Her Ain’t I a Woman speech is one of my favourites but I haven’t read a lot beyond that. Would you recommend The Narrative of Sojourner Truth?

    • If you are curious about her life and what lead her to being the woman she was, then yes I do. It does provide some insight, though it’s really short and it’s actually written by Olive Gilbert so there is a lot of outside thinking happening. It explores Truth’s faith and hits the major moments in her life.
Personally I was hoping for more of a biography than what was given.

  8. I have escaped the hot dog song, ha ha, it must have come out after the youngest girl I babysit became too old for it. Baz and his friends play both D&D and Magic the Gathering. They have a specific night for both, and then a night that they either play video games, or random board/card games. He still hasn’t taken our Exploding Kittens game over for them to play. The manga you have been reading looks good. I hope you had a wonderful week. 🙂
