Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. ~ Inspired by the meme In My Mailbox.~ It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I’m ready for a vacation. Tuesday I went for my B12 shot, and that wasn’t a pleasant as expected. And my dog, Leia, had to be taken to the vet because we found blood in her urine. She’s fine, but she does have an urinary tract infection so we have to do around of antibiotics and pain pills until she gets better. I did get a lot of blog posts typed up this week, including some of the backlogged reviews I’ve been neglecting. So get prepared to read reviews of books I read over 4 months ago!

For those that don’t know, Anakin is now Kylo. A name change was in order because it was too long. Kylo has driven me and the other pets nuts, and I’m pretty sure he thinks his name is “no”. There are smart puppies, puppies that need a little time to learn, and then there is Kylo. It’s rare that I ever feel like puppies are dense, because they need time to learn…but he fits the bill. I normally love training dogs but he’s the first one I’m actually happy to avoid dealing with, and since he’s my dad’s dog this works in my favor.

Hmm that stinks about the B12 shot. Aww, hope your pup feels better. UTIs suck. lol – about Kylo. Kylo. I’ve trained many types of animals, including dogs, and they all certainly have their own personalities. Have a great week, Michelle.

    • She seems to be improving a lot. And I know what you mean…Kylo’s personality is not looking condusive to him learning much of anything until he gets bigger. He’s smart when he wants to be, like he’s figured out how to climb out of his pen. -_-

  2. Deborah says:

Keen to hear what you thought of the Little Paris Bookshop. I’ve not been sure if it’s the sort of book I’d like.

And I had to laugh about Kylo. My brother has a cat who is umm…. mentally challenged (ie. a bit stupid). We used to think it was a kitten thing but he’s never grown out of it! He’s cute nonetheless though!

    • I don’t see him growing out of it either, he’s the sort to keep doing things even though he gets in trouble repeatedly. I don’t adopt young puppies for two reasons – 1) someone will always adopt a puppy and 2) you never know what you’re going to get. I prefer dogs that are around 3 to 4 months old or older, that way I can see if it’s going to mesh well with everyone else.

LOL, I’ve had dogs who were so smart, I was half afraid to leave them alone in the same room as my credit cards! And yet, I’ve also had dogs who have had the sweetest disposition; but are amazingly obtuse: One who couldn’t figure out a swinging door; another who couldn’t a retrieve a stick through a gate that stood slightly ajar; And yet another who kept running into walls at full speed… And now I have three lab mixes who all practically implode every time they see a tennis ball! 😀

    • He definitely seems to be a more internal kind of dog. Thinks a lot, but completely ignores everyone else. If he wants something he could probably figure out how to unlock doors, but as far as answering to his name or understanding what ‘no’ means…we’re lost.

  4. Greg says:

Kylo as in Kylo Ren? Just wondering… 🙂 You got Aftermath? I’m am alla bout reading that, as I am getting Star Wars fever (the new movie) and need to know what’s going on. I gotta get that one this week if I can.

Leia is a good name. 🙂 And PAris Bookshop sounded good to me, I’m curious but not sure if I’ll grab that or not. Have a great Labor Day!

    • Yep! We added a new star wars pup. So we now have Leia (mine), Chewbacca (Mom’s). and Kylo (dad’s).
And yes! So far it’s interesting, it is written a bit oddly though so it’s taking some adjusting but I’m happy to see some continuity with the two shows (Clone Wars and Rebels).
Paris Bookshop is really good, different but good!

  5. Red Iza says:

If Kylo is smart when he needs to be, I’m sure he’ll improve – or he’ll drive you crazy ! You have 4 months old reviews ? I have some that are 2 years old, lol ! Enjoy your new books 🙂

  6. Kylo sounds like a character! Hope you find a way of getting through to him and teaching him. I think some dogs are just crazy, not stupid just crazy! My parents have one, he’s a whirlwind and creates chaos wherever he goes :O

  7. I always love seeing the Harry Potter editions you have acquired. I hope September is starting out better for you than August was. The only good thing about August for me was that it went quickly! Have a wonderful week. 🙂

  8. Maree says:

I can offer no insights on puppies – I have cats, but good luck! Have a great week 😀

I couldn’t get through THE LITTLE PARIS BOOKSHOP audio. It was fake accents, and the word “HHHEEEERRRR” over and over. I am here today:

  10. Rachel B says:

Ooo! I live the POP! figures. 🙂 hopefully the training goes better from now on. I always marvel at how people spend the time to train their dogs – that’s live right there. I’m a cat person myself. Low maintenance pets for me!

  11. My brother had a dog named Kilo but what do you expect when she’s named by a bunch of fraternity brothers. lol I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to reviews. I think I just posted my last one that was month’s old. Trying to stay up-to-date now, but you know how that goes. 😀

  12. I hope your dog is ok, I saw pics of your pup on Instagram, what a cutie. I love having a dog, best pets in the world!

I enjoyed the Little Paris Bookshop, it was really a nice read.

    Have a good week!

  13. fuonlyknew says:

I had a dog like Kylo. She never did slow down or lose her stubborn streak. LOL I hope your other one feels better soon and that you get your vacation! I’m so ready for one too.

Glad Leia is okay. Kylo sounds a bit like my Argyle, although my Argyle surprised me yesterday when he actually came when I called him. So you never know. Hope you have a good week!
